Gentle Thai Massage

What is Thai Massage?

Thai Massage is a style of fully clothed holistic bodywork that combines passive stretches, compression massage, joint mobilization, reflexology and more, with primary focus on improving the flow of the energetic channels called "sen" (similar to the meridians of acupuncture). To apply these techniques, the therapist uses their palms, forearms, knees, feet and more. When the flow of energy throughout these channels is optimal, our ability to heal is vastly improved.

Traditional Thai Massage is done fully clothed, with no lotions or oils. Instead of using a standard massage table, the treatment is done on a thick and comfy Thai Massage mat on the floor, which also offers a more grounding experience.

Benefits include:

increased flexibility

improved posture

reduction of physical pain

reduced stress/anxiety

improved sleep

improved mental clarity

mental & emotional balance

improved flow of blood, lymph, cerebrospinal fluid, breath, digestive system, etc.

Why the emphasis on "Gentle"?

I've heard many people tell me that they associate Thai Massage with pain or intensity. They have either experienced this themselves or they have heard this elsewhere. There are certainly plenty of intense Thai Massage therapists out there, and that may be what the receiver is looking for.

However, there are many Thai Massage therapists that I have worked with, received from and even taught that are not so intense and have the sensitivity to adapt their session to each client.

My energy is gentle itself, therefore it only feels natural to offer this to others. There are some Thai Massage techniques that may call for a bit deeper pressure or stretch from time to time, and I am happy and able to accommodate, though the overall theme of my sessions is gentle and nurturing.

If you are looking for a Thai Massage therapist who has a more robust, dynamic, strong energy, I am more than happy to recommend one of my colleageus! However, I also invite you to be open to a subtler sensation. It is an excellent practice in tuning more deeply into your body.
